New GMO testing offer
Phytocontrol carries out GMO analysis by real-time PCR, with the capacity to screen the full range of known markers and target events.
Our extensive command of the regulatory environment for these analyses allows us to offer a relevant focus on GMO screening by species (Soybean, Maize, Rapeseed, Rice, Cotton, Potato, Flax, Sugar beet) and multi-species screening, covering the relevant markers and events to fully address the GMO risk.
This unique approach takes investigation beyond the usual P35S/TNOS or RRS/RRS2 screens, and beyond multi-marker scans that do not provide exhaustive risk coverage.
As a reminder, GMOs (Genetically Modified Organisms) are living organisms whose genetic material has been modified through human intervention in order to:
• give certain plants resistance to insects,
• make weed control easier,
From a regulatory standpoint, the European Union has introduced legislation to give European consumers a free choice as to whether or not they consume GMOs, requiring that products containing them above a detection threshold of 0.9% carry specific labelling.
The Laboratory has a 24-hour emergency capacity for detection and 48 hours for detection and quantification.
