The Phytocontrol group offers you a new webinar on microplastics in water, covering regulations as well as existing standards (AFNOR).
EFSA (European Food Safety Authority) defines microplastics as particles ranging in size from 0.1 to 5,000 micrometres. The emergence of this new class of contaminants stems in particular from the increasing use of these polymers over the past 70 years, and their gradual fragmentation over time in the environment.
Although microplastics are not yet strictly regulated in the sanitary or environmental monitoring of water, regulatory constraints (in France but also in Europe) are beginning to emerge to limit their presence in the environment. As an emerging topic and a major health concern for citizens and the scientific community, implementing a reliable analytical method is therefore essential.
