Phytocontrol expands its GMO offering with 5 new accredited events!
The laboratory is expanding its GMO maize testing offer with 5 additional accredited events: MON 87403, MON 87411, DP-4114-3, MZHG0JG and MON 87460, and now includes the Pat marker.
Phytocontrol offers GMO screening by species (Soybean, Maize, Rapeseed, Rice, Cotton, Potato, Flax, Beet) and multi-species screening, carried out by real-time PCR, with the capacity to scan the full range of known markers and target events. This targeted focus makes it possible to cover the entire GMO risk.
As a reminder, GMOs (Genetically Modified Organisms) are living organisms whose genetic material has been modified by human intervention in order to:
• give certain plants resistance to insects,
• make weeding easier,
• increase certain drought tolerance traits.
From a regulatory standpoint, the European Union has put in place legislation to give European consumers free choice as to whether or not to consume GMOs, requiring that products containing them above a detection threshold of 0.9% be subject to specific labelling.
