Innovation: broad-scope veterinary drug residue screening
Phytocontrol’s R&D department has developed an innovative method for the analysis of veterinary drug residues across a number of chemical families unmatched in France.
The laboratory is thus able to detect and quantify a wide list of veterinary drug residues using an ultra-high-performance HPLC-QTOF technique, complemented by LC-MS/MS, in a package that also includes Chloramphenicol.
The use of veterinary medicines aims to promote the health and welfare of animals raised for production, leisure or companionship purposes. These pharmacologically active substances, and their associated excipients, can be found in various forms in foodstuffs. Phytocontrol has therefore developed its analysis for a wide range of matrices of animal origin such as meat, fish, eggs, milk and honey.
The limits of quantification are consistent with the Maximum Residue Limits (MRLs) defined in Commission Regulation (EU) No 37/2010 of 22 December 2009 and its amendments relating to pharmacologically active substances and their classification.
