Phytocontrol’s R&D team is proud to present its latest innovation: species authentication using NGS technology.
In the current context of crises linked to food fraud, the Phytocontrol Group is strengthening its position as an analytical expert in food safety, by offering an innovative new method covering a much wider range of species than traditional methods.
NGS (Next Generation Sequencing) is a new molecular biology technique that detects, identifies and lists components of animal or plant origin in a food sample, compared against an evolving database. Alongside the (q)PCR technique, which determines targeted species (“Is there beef in my sample?“), NGS refines the analysis to identify all detected species (“My sample contains beef, horse and mutton.“).
The Phytocontrol solution
To address this major challenge for the food industry, the laboratory offers 3 types of analysis:
• Meat Packs (over 6,000 species)
• Fish Packs (over 6,000 species)
• Plant Packs (over 5,000 species)
These packs are available individually or combined according to your needs. NGS technology meets your meat, fish or plant authentication needs for targeted or non-targeted studies, making it a method of choice for combating food fraud.
