The INCO regulation does not require fibre to be shown on labelling, unless a specific claim or advertising is made about the product. The declaration of minerals and trace elements remains optional.
Nutritional values
Ensuring food labelling compliance
through nutritional values
Nutritional labelling is an essential element of consumer information and a regulatory requirement for most prepackaged foodstuffs.
The European regulation known as “INCO” (for consumer INformation) now requires mandatory and uniform nutritional information. This nutritional declaration must be given per 100 g or ml of product:
- The energy value
- The fat content including saturated fatty acids
- The carbohydrates including sugars
- The protein and salt content
