GMOs are organisms whose genetic material has been artificially modified. From microorganisms to animals to plants, GMOs are developed for applications in the health, environmental and food sectors.
In Europe, the presence of GMOs in foodstuffs is subject to regulations requiring the labelling of all foods containing more than 0.9% GMO per ingredient.
