A specialist in contaminant analysis, our laboratory complements its expertise with microbiology and food physico-chemistry services. These analyses fall within the framework of the International Code of Oenological Practices (OIV) and European regulatory requirements, which set precise thresholds for numerous contaminants found in wine.

 

 

What analyses does Phytocontrol offer?

Our teams are able to detect a wide range of substances and parameters, including:

  • Pesticides: glyphosate, fosetyl-aluminium, folpet, dimethomorph, dithiocarbamates, fluopicolide, etc.

  • Metals: lead, cadmium, arsenic, zinc, copper…

  • Mycotoxins: ochratoxin A

  • Biogenic amines

  • Phthalates

  • TFA (trifluoroacetic acid)

  • Methanol

  • Allergens: sulphites, casein, egg proteins

  • Nutritional values

Regulations applicable to wine

Our analyses cover all current legal requirements, including:

  • Pesticides: Regulation (EC) No. 396/2005 of the European Parliament and of the Council of 23 February 2005 on maximum residue levels of pesticides in or on food and feed of plant and animal origin (consolidated version).

  • Metals: Regulation (EU) 2023/915 setting maximum levels for certain contaminants in food (consolidated version).

    OIV – Maximum acceptable limits of various elements in wine (2023 edition).
  • Sulphites: Annex I part B of Delegated Regulation 2019/934 concerning the wine-growing zones where the actual alcoholic strength may be increased, the authorised oenological practices and restrictions applicable to the production and conservation of grapevine products, the minimum percentage of alcohol for by-products and their disposal, and the publication of OIV files.

  • Allergens: Regulation (EU) 2019/33 supplementing Regulation (EU) No. 1308/2013 of the European Parliament and of the Council as regards applications for protection of designations of origin, geographical indications and traditional terms in the wine sector, the objection procedure, restrictions on use, amendments to product specifications, cancellation of protection, and labelling and presentation.

  • Nutritional labelling: Regulation (EU) 2021/2117 amending Regulation (EU) No. 1308/2013 establishing a common organisation of the markets in agricultural products.

  • Phthalates: Regulation (EU) No. 10/2011 on plastic materials and articles intended to come into contact with food (consolidated version).
