Acquisition of Laboratoriz by Phytocontrol Group
The Phytocontrol Group, made up of laboratories specializing in food and environmental safety, now includes LABORATORIZ, a leading player in rice quality and variety analysis.
Founded in 1946 in the Arles region, in the heart of France’s rice-growing area, LABORATORIZ controls, analyzes and characterizes the quality of all rice varieties, according to their origin, at all stages of processing and in all forms. From a regional approach, the laboratory has expanded its field of action and developed its reputation on a European and worldwide scale.
Since 1993, Claudine BRUN and her brother Jean-Pierre BRUN have been at the helm of the laboratory, which is accredited ISO 17025, approved by GAFTA and INAO-accredited. Today, LABORATORIZ is a worldwide reference in the rice industry, and a major link and privileged partner of CERTIPAQ in the regular control and analysis of rice for the PGI Camargue rice.

Through the acquisition of LABORATORIZ, a long-standing partner of the Group, Phytocontrol enriches its analysis portfolio and perpetuates a unique and differentiating know-how. « Laboratoriz has a complementary offer to that of the Phytocontrol Group, a differentiating approach upstream of the agricultural (food) chain. Analyzing the quality and variety of rice, i.e. its color, size, breakage, origin, etc., is a part of our business that we didn’t do before», explains Eric CAPODANNO, Scientific Director of the Phytocontrol Group.
LABORATORIZ and all its employees are now fully integrated into the Phytocontrol Group, while maintaining their activities in Arles.
LABORATORIZ is the Phytocontrol Group’s 5th acquisition in 3 years. With this latest acquisition, the Group reaffirms its growth ambitions and further consolidates its leading position in the food safety sector, offering its customers a wide range of top-of-the-range analyses that fully meet their needs and regulatory requirements.
