{"id":8325,"date":"2019-02-28T12:29:07","date_gmt":"2019-02-28T11:29:07","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.phytocontrol.com\/?p=8325"},"modified":"2026-08-28T01:48:06","modified_gmt":"2026-08-27T23:48:06","slug":"publication-of-new-microbiological-criteria","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/dev.phytocontrol.com\/en\/regulatory-watch\/publication-of-new-microbiological-criteria\/","title":{"rendered":"Publication of new microbiological criteria"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><em>Regulation (EU) 2019\/229 amending Regulation (EC) No 2073\/2005 on microbiological criteria for foodstuffs has recently been published.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>This new text introduces the following changes:<\/em><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><em>Addition of a food safety criterion for Listeria monocytogenes in sprouted seeds.<\/em><\/li>\n<li><em>A clarification has been added regarding the food safety criterion for salmonella and the process hygiene criterion for E.coli in unpasteurised (ready-to-eat) fruit and vegetable juices: \u201cThe term \u2018unpasteurised\u2019 means that the juice has not undergone pasteurisation achieved by a combination of time and temperature or other validated processes to achieve a bactericidal effect equivalent to pasteurisation with regard to its effect on Salmonella.\u201d<\/em><\/li>\n<li><em>Update of the reference methods for Salmonella, Cronobacter, staphylococcal enterotoxin, histamine, aerobic colony count, and enumeration of Enterobacteriaceae<\/em><\/li>\n<li><em>The term \u201cAbsence\u201d is replaced by the term \u201cNot detected\u201d for the parameters Listeria monocytogenes, Salmonella, Cronobacter spp., Salmonella typhimurium, Salmonella enteritidis, and shiga toxin-producing E. coli (STEC) O157, O26, O111, O103, O145 and O104:H4<\/em><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><em> <\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>This new regulation is available via the link below: <a href=\"https:\/\/www.phytocontrol.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/03\/2019-229-modif-2073-2005-Listeria.pdf\">Regulation No 2019\/229<\/a>. It has been applicable since 28 February 2019.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em> <\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>Please note that your Phytocontrol laboratory is able to carry out testing for Salmonella, Listeria, E.coli, histamine, aerobic colony count and Enterobacteriaceae under COFRAC accreditation.
