In September 2016, ANSES published a total infant diet study, which examined the exposure of children under three years old to chemical substances.
\nANSES’s Total Diet Studies (TDS) aim to monitor population exposure to a wide range of substances present in food: plant protection product residues, environmental contaminants, process contaminants, natural toxins, additives, trace elements or minerals, etc.
\nThe diet of children under 3 years old was thoroughly examined, and nearly 670 substances were tested for.<\/p>\n

On 28 November 2018, ANSES made all the data from its infant total diet study (EATi) available as OpenData on the official website data.gouv.fr. This document presents all the concentration data for chemical substance residues or contaminants in the diet of children under three years old.
\nThis data is accessible via the following link: EATi data<\/a><\/p>\n

Although the results obtained confirmed a good level of control of health risks from the potential presence of contaminants in food, 16 substances were considered of concern.
\nFor 9 substances, the situation called for particular vigilance:
\n\u2013 Inorganic arsenic
\n\u2013 Lead
\n\u2013 Nickel
\n\u2013 PCDD\/F
\n\u2013 PCB
\n\u2013 T-2 & HT-2 mycotoxins
\n\u2013 Acrylamide
\n\u2013 Deoxynivalenol
\n\u2013 Furan
\nFor these 9 substances, ANSES recommended implementing or strengthening management measures to limit exposure levels (environmental release control policy, process control, setting regulatory thresholds or lowering existing thresholds).<\/p>\n

For 7 other substances, the risk could not be ruled out:
\n\u2013 Aluminium
\n\u2013 Cobalt
\n\u2013 Strontium
\n\u2013 Methylmercury
\n\u2013 Selenium
\n\u2013 Cadmium
\n\u2013 Genistein in soy consumers
\nFor substances for which the risk could not be excluded or could not be assessed, the Agency recommended acquiring further knowledge.<\/p>\n
