The Order of 6 April 2018 suspending the introduction, importation and placing on the market in France of fresh cherries intended for consumption, produced in a Member State of the European Union or a third country where the use of plant protection products containing the active substance dimethoate is authorised for treating cherry trees, was published on 10 April 2018.
\nThe text applies to introducers, importers and first placers on the national market of fresh cherries intended for food consumption.<\/p>\n

On 29 March 2018, France asked the European Commission to take emergency measures to ban the use of dimethoate on cherry trees and suspend the placing on the European market of fresh cherries from dimethoate-treated cherry trees, which are likely to pose a serious risk to human health.
\nAs no measures were taken by the European Commission, France is suspending, for a period of one year from the entry into force of this order, the introduction, importation and placing on the market in France of fresh cherries intended for consumption, produced in a Member State of the European Union or a third country where the use of plant protection products containing the active substance dimethoate is authorised for treating cherry trees.<\/p>\n

Given that European rules on organic cherry production do not permit the use of plant protection products containing the active substance dimethoate, cherries from organic production complying with Regulation 834\/2007 may be introduced, imported or placed on the market.<\/p>\n
