Commission Implementing Regulation (EU) 2018\/555 of 9 April 2018 concerning a coordinated multiannual Union control programme for 2019, 2020 and 2021, designed to ensure compliance with maximum residue levels of pesticides in and on food of plant and animal origin and to assess consumer exposure to these residues, was published on 10 April 2018.
\nThis Regulation will enter into force on 1 January 2019.<\/p>\n
Thirty to forty foodstuffs make up the main components of the diet in the Union.
\nSince pesticide use varies considerably over a three-year period, pesticides must be monitored in these foodstuffs over a series of three-year cycles in order to assess consumer exposure and the enforcement of EU legislation.<\/p>\n
Monitoring will cover 683 samples selected across 36 different food products.
\nSampling is distributed among Member States according to population, with a minimum of 12 samples per product per year.<\/p>\n
