\"Suspension
\nAccording to an EFSA opinion from October 2015, the additive ethoxyquin is considered a powerful antioxidant in animal feed.
\nHowever, the absence of harmful effects of ethoxyquin could not be established based on the information and documents provided.
\nFurthermore, the absence of genotoxicity of one of its metabolites, ethoxyquin quinone-imine, could not be demonstrated, and p-phenetidine, an impurity of this additive, is recognised as a possible mutagenic agent.<\/p>\n

As a result, Implementing Regulation (EU) No 2017\/962<\/a>, published on 8 June 2017, suspends the authorisation of ethoxyquin as an additive for feed intended for all animal species and categories.
\nThis regulation applies from 28 June 2017.<\/p>\n

Transitional measures have been put in place:
\n– Existing stocks of the ethoxyquin additive and premixtures containing this additive may continue to be placed on the market until 28 September 2017 and may be used until 28 December 2017.
\n– Feed materials and compound feed produced with the ethoxyquin additive or premixtures containing this additive may continue to be placed on the market until 28 December 2017 and may be used until 28 March 2018.<\/p>\n

Specific transitional measures:
\n– a) The ethoxyquin additive and premixtures containing this additive intended for incorporation into the feed materials referred to under entry 7.1.2 (Dried algae) and Chapter 10 (Fish, other aquatic animals and products derived thereof) of the catalogue of feed materials established by Commission Regulation (EU) No 68\/2013 (attached) may continue to be placed on the market until 30 September 2019 (and used up to 3 months later), provided that the label of the ethoxyquin additive or premixtures containing this additive states the intended incorporation into these feed materials.
\n– b) The feed materials referred to in point a) produced with the ethoxyquin additive or premixtures containing this additive may continue to be placed on the market until 31 December 2019 (and used up to 3 months later).
\n– c) Compound feed produced with the feed materials referred to in point b) may continue to be placed on the market until 31 March 2020 (and used up to 3 months later).
\nOther specific transitional measures:
\n– a) The ethoxyquin additive intended for incorporation into the following additive preparations, which have been authorised in the Union in accordance with Regulation (EC) No 1831\/2003, may continue to be placed on the market until 31 March 2018 (and used up to 3 months later), provided that the label of the ethoxyquin additive states the intended incorporation into these additive preparations (preparations of vitamin A, D, E, K, lutein, zeaxanthin, ethyl ester of beta-apo-8′-carotenic acid, citranaxanthin, capsanthin, astaxanthin, astaxanthin dimethyl disuccinate, canthaxanthin, beta-carotene).
\n– b) The additive preparations referred to in point a) containing the ethoxyquin additive and premixtures containing these additive preparations may continue to be placed on the market until 30 June 2018 (and used up to 3 months later).
\n– c) Feed materials and compound feed containing the products referred to in point b) may continue to be placed on the market until 30 September 2018 (and used up to 3 months later).<\/p>\n
