Regulation (EU) 2017\/983<\/a> was published on 10 June 2017 in the Official Journal of the European Union.
\nThis regulation amends the maximum residue levels applicable to tricyclazole in or on certain products.
\nThe main change concerns the MRL for rice, which is reduced from 1 mg\/kg to 0.01 mg\/kg.<\/p>\nGiven the long shelf life of rice, the regulation includes transitional provisions applying to rice produced in 2016 or earlier, to allow for the normal marketing, processing and consumption of rice. However, due to uncertainties regarding the properties of tricyclazole, the deadlines set by the regulation do not allow for any tricyclazole treatment in 2017 or thereafter.
\nThe same applies to basmati rice, which has a specific maturation period before being placed on the market. For this type of rice, if grown in 2016 or earlier, an additional six-month period should be provided before the amended MRLs take effect, to allow for the normal marketing, processing and consumption of basmati rice.<\/p>\n
This new regulation applies from 30 June 2017 to all products except basmati rice.
