Synergists are chemicals that have no pesticidal effect themselves but enhance the pesticidal properties of other chemicals. PBO can be added to plant protection formulations containing pyrethrins or, more generally, compounds from the pyrethroid family. After ingestion by insects, PBO inhibits the secretion of certain enzymes and enhances the insecticidal properties of the plant protection product. PBO has harmful effects on human endocrine function and on the environment.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.phytocontrol.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/03\/Avis-ANSES-12-07-13.pdf\">See the ANSES opinion (July 2013) on setting maximum residue levels (MRLs) for piperonyl butoxide on plants<\/a><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">According to the ITAB inputs guide (<a href=\"http:\/\/www.itab.asso.fr\/downloads\/com-intrants\/noticeguideintrant.pdf\">Guide notice \u2013 September 2016<\/a>), commercial solutions containing PBO will be banned in Organic Farming within the following timeframe:<\/p>\n<ul style=\"text-align: justify;\">\n<li>Removal of the organic label from the packaging of the products concerned for sale and distribution by 31 March 2017<\/li>\n<li>End of use of stock by <span style=\"color: #ff0000;\"><strong>30 September 2017<\/strong><\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Below are the lists of crop protection products and basic substances usable in organic farming in France:<\/p>\n<ul style=\"text-align: justify;\">\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.phytocontrol.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/03\/Liste-des-substances-de-base-utilisables-en-AB-en-France.pdf\">List of basic substances usable in organic farming in France<\/a><\/li>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.phytocontrol.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/03\/Liste-des-produits-de-protection-des-cultures-utilisables-en-AB-en-France.pdf\">List of crop protection products usable in organic farming in France<\/a><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The <a href=\"http:\/\/www.itab.asso.fr\/\">ITAB<\/a> website will publish a new version of the guide to crop protection products usable in organic farming in France. Products containing PBO will be removed from the list as of 30 September 2017.
