Regulation (EU) 2017\/2229 amending Annex I to Directive 2002\/32\/EC on undesirable substances in animal feed was published today.
\nThis new regulation introduces changes to the sections relating to limits for Lead, Mercury, Melamine and Decoquinate.
\nIt enters into force on the 20th day following its publication in the Official Journal.<\/p>\n
Among the changes made:
\n– Copper(I) oxide is added to the category “Manganous oxide, iron carbonate and copper carbonate”, with a lead limit set at 200mg\/kg instead of 100mg\/kg compared to the previous regulation
\n– A specific limit has been introduced for Mercury in tuna (Thunnus spp, Euthynnus spp. Katsuwonus pelamis) and their derived products intended for the production of compound feed for dogs, cats, ornamental fish and fur animals. This limit has been set at 1mg\/kg instead of 0.5mg\/kg in the earlier version of this regulation.
\n– Introduction of a 20mg\/kg limit for Melamine in guanidinoacetic acid GAA (Additive). Melamine is present in GAA as an impurity.
\n– Removal of the decoquinate limit set for broiler chickens during the pre-slaughter period during which the use of decoquinate is prohibited (withdrawal feed).<\/p>\n
