Commission Regulation (EU) No 2018\/62<\/a> of 17 January 2018 replacing Annex I<\/strong> to Regulation (EC) No 396\/2005 of the European Parliament and of the Council was published on 23 January 2018.<\/p>\n

This text comes into force on 12 February 2018<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

Annex I to Regulation (EC) No 396\/2005 provides the list of products and by-products for which MRLs are set, and the part to which these MRLs apply.<\/p>\n

Below is a summary of the new features introduced by this regulation:<\/p>\n

\u2013 A note \u201c(3)\u201d is added to \u201cSweet corn\u201d to indicate that the MRLs apply to the whole grain with bran.
\n\u2013 A note \u201c(4)\u201d is added to the \u201cCEREALS\u201d category, except for Rice, to indicate that \u201cwhole grains\u201d means whole grains with bran. In line with the definition agreed at the 2016 meeting of the Codex Committee on Pesticide Residues, for species and varieties whose husks (glumes) cannot be (fully) removed by threshing (e.g. barley, oats, spelt, buckwheat, certain pseudo-cereals), the part of the product to which the MRLs apply is \u201chulled grains with (traces of) residual husks\u201d.
\nFor rice specifically, the MRLs apply to brown rice (husked rice), defined as rice obtained once the husk has been removed from paddy rice.
\n\u2013 A note \u201c(7)\u201d has been added regarding honey. It states that the MRLs defined for this category apply only to honey and not to other beekeeping products, given the different chemical characteristics of this type of matrix. As a result, pollen and royal jelly have been removed from the annex.
