The former Directive 98\/83\/EC will be definitively repealed on 13 January 2023.<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Among the new features of this directive: a risk-based approach, hygiene requirements applicable to materials in contact with water, and an update to the quality standards set for drinking water!<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The text also provides for the establishment of a watch list to address growing concerns about endocrine disruptors, pharmaceuticals and microplastics.<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">What changes for microbiological and physico-chemical contaminants?<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">For microbiological parameters, parametric values are introduced for:<\/p>\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>somatic coliphages in raw water<\/li><li>Legionella, for the purpose of assessing risks associated with private distribution systems<\/li><\/ul>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">For physico-chemical parameters, seven substances are added:<\/p>\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Chlorate<\/li><li>Chlorite<\/li><li>Haloacetic acids (HAAs)<\/li><li>Microcystin-LR<\/li><li>Total PFAS<\/li><li>Sum of PFAS<\/li><li>Uranium<\/li><\/ul>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Among the chemical substances, some will see their parametric values lowered:<\/p>\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Chromium will drop to 25\u00b5g\/L 10 years after the entry into force date (currently limited to 50\u00b5g\/L)<\/li><li>Lead will drop to 5\u00b5g\/L by 12 January 2036 at the latest. The parametric value for lead until that date is 10 \u00b5g\/l.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Three substances are added to the watch list:<\/p>\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Bisphenol A with a parametric value of 2.5\u00b5g\/L<\/li><li>Nonylphenol with a parametric value of 0.3\u00b5g\/L<\/li><li>Beta-oestradiol with a parametric value of 1ng\/L<\/li><\/ul>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Member States must bring these new provisions into force by 12 January 2023 at the latest.<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Please note that Phytocontrol holds national approval from the Ministry of Health for carrying out sampling and analysis for water health monitoring.<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">You will find details of our accreditations in our COFRAC technical appendix No. 1-6066.<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Need technical, regulatory or pricing information?
