{"id":544602,"date":"2026-08-27T02:05:42","date_gmt":"2026-08-27T00:05:42","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/dev.phytocontrol.com\/uncategorized\/anses-gives-its-approval-for-the-renewal-of-authorisation-of-a-cation-exchange-resin-used-for-treating-drinking-water\/"},"modified":"2026-08-27T02:05:42","modified_gmt":"2026-08-27T00:05:42","slug":"anses-gives-its-approval-for-the-renewal-of-authorisation-of-a-cation-exchange-resin-used-for-treating-drinking-water","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/dev.phytocontrol.com\/en\/regulatory-watch\/anses-gives-its-approval-for-the-renewal-of-authorisation-of-a-cation-exchange-resin-used-for-treating-drinking-water\/","title":{"rendered":"ANSES gives its approval for the renewal of authorisation of a cation exchange resin used for treating drinking water"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">ANSES has just published an <a href=\"https:\/\/www.anses.fr\/fr\/system\/files\/EAUX2021SA0001.pdf\">opinion on a request to renew the marketing authorisation for the cation exchange resin \u201cRESINEX KW-H\u201d, used for treating water intended for human consumption<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Used in H+ form, the \u201cRESINEX KW-H\u201d resin is a weakly acidic cation exchange resin designed for decarbonation.<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Article R.1321-50-I of the French Public Health Code specifies that: \u201c<em>products and processes placed on the market and intended for the treatment of water intended for human consumption must, under normal or foreseeable conditions of use, comply with specific provisions defined by order of the minister responsible for health, aimed at ensuring that:<\/em><\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><em>&#8211; they are not likely, intrinsically or through their residues, to present a direct or indirect danger to human health or to alter the composition of the water as defined by reference to values set out in that order;<\/em><\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><em>&#8211; they are sufficiently effective. These provisions apply in whole or in part, depending on the group of products and treatment processes and their uses [\u2026]<\/em>\u201d.<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">ANSES was asked to assess the safety of the RESINEX KW-H cation exchange resin as part of its marketing authorisation renewal request.<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">This resin was previously authorised in 2016 for a period of 5 years. ANSES had issued a favourable opinion on 30 March 2016 (referral 2016-SA-0002) after new analyses were presented following an unfavourable opinion issued on 11 September 2015 (referral 2015-SA-0103).<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The agency issued a favourable opinion on the renewal of this resin&#8217;s authorisation, subject to:<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">&#8211; its use under the recommended conditions, namely: use of a 5% hydrochloric acid solution for regeneration; use of a 0.2% peracetic acid solution for disinfection.<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">&#8211; the product used for regeneration meeting the purity criteria set out in standard NF EN 939.<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">&#8211; the product used for disinfection meeting the requirements of European regulations on biocidal products.<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Please note that Phytocontrol holds the national approval from the Ministry of Health to carry out sampling and analysis for water sanitary control.<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Details of our accreditations can be found in our COFRAC technical appendix No. 1-6066.<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Need technical, regulatory or pricing information?
