The emergence of this new class of contaminants stems in particular from the increasing use of these polymers over the past 70 years, and their gradual fragmentation over time in the environment.<br\/>Although microplastics are not yet strictly regulated in the sanitary or environmental monitoring of water, regulatory constraints (in France but also in Europe) are beginning to emerge to limit their presence in the environment.
