{"id":544450,"date":"2026-08-27T01:24:12","date_gmt":"2026-08-26T23:24:12","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/dev.phytocontrol.com\/uncategorized\/publication-of-regulations-eu-2022-1343-and-2022-1346-amending-mrls\/"},"modified":"2026-08-27T01:24:12","modified_gmt":"2026-08-26T23:24:12","slug":"publication-of-regulations-eu-2022-1343-and-2022-1346-amending-mrls","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/dev.phytocontrol.com\/en\/regulatory-watch\/publication-of-regulations-eu-2022-1343-and-2022-1346-amending-mrls\/","title":{"rendered":"Publication of regulations (EU) 2022\/1343 and 2022\/1346 amending MRLs"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Two new regulations amending MRLs have just been published in the OJEU.<\/p>\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/eur-lex.europa.eu\/legal-content\/FR\/TXT\/?uri=CELEX%3A32022R1343&amp;qid=1659431558521\"><strong>Regulation (EU) 2022\/1343<\/strong><\/a> amending the MRLs of <strong>acequinocyl, chlorantraniliprole and emamectin.<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The MRLs of <strong>acequinocyl<\/strong> have been lowered for almonds. They have been raised for pome fruits, peaches, plums, grapes, tomatoes, aubergines, courgettes, herbs, teas, coffee, infusions, cocoa and carob, hops and spices.<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The MRLs of <strong>chlorantraniliprole<\/strong> have been lowered for tree nuts, pome fruits, sweetcorn, cauliflowers, celeries, coffee beans, sugar beets and chicory roots. They have been raised for blackberries, azaroles\/Mediterranean medlars, kumquats, potatoes, broccoli, kale, sprouting broccoli, cardoons, fennel, rhubarb, linseed, poppy seed, sesame seed, mustard seed, squash seed, safflower seed, borage seed, camelina seed, hemp seed, castor bean, teas, infusions and spices.<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The residue definition for <strong>emamectin<\/strong> will change:<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Former residue definition: Emamectin benzoate B1a or &#8220;emamectin&#8221;<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">New residue definition: Emamectin B1a and its salts, expressed as emamectin B1a (free base)<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The MRLs have been raised for Chinese cabbage\/pe-tsai, watercress and beans (shelled). They have been lowered for citrus fruits, tree nuts, plums, berries and small fruits (except strawberries), miscellaneous fruits (except lychees), root and tuber vegetables, bulb vegetables, cucurbits, brassicas (except leafy brassicas (Chinese cabbage, kale)), lettuces and salad plants, vine leaves, chicory\/witloof, herbs, peas, stem vegetables, mushrooms, dried legumes, oilseeds, cereals, teas, coffee beans, herbal infusions from flowers and roots, cocoa beans, carob, hops, spices, sugar plants and milk.<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Article 2 of this regulation specifies that the previous MRLs continue to apply to products obtained or imported into the Union before 22 February 2023.<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The regulation will apply from <strong>22\/02\/23<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/eur-lex.europa.eu\/legal-content\/FR\/TXT\/?uri=CELEX%3A32022R1346&amp;qid=1659431558521\"><strong>Regulation (EU) 2022\/1346<\/strong><\/a> amending the MRLs of <strong>1,4-DMN, 8-hydroxyquinoline, pinoxaden and valifenalate.<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">EFSA considered that <strong>1,4-DMN<\/strong> could be naturally present in plant-based products, and therefore it might be inappropriate to set the MRL at the limit of determination of 0.01 mg\/kg.<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The MRLs have therefore been raised to 0.05 mg\/kg in products of plant origin (except for potatoes, where the MRL remains at 15 mg\/kg). They have also been raised in products of animal origin, particularly milk (0.4 mg\/kg) and honey (0.05 mg\/kg).<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The MRLs of <strong>8-hydroxyquinoline<\/strong> have been raised for tree nuts, table olives, avocados, herbs, dried legumes, oilseeds, cereals, teas, coffee beans, infusions, cocoa and carob, spices and honey. They have been lowered for tomatoes.<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The residue definition for <strong>pinoxaden<\/strong> will change:<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Former residue definition: Pinoxaden<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">New residue definition: Sum of metabolites M4 and M6 (free and conjugated), expressed as pinoxaden<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The MRLs have been raised across all matrices except barley, rice, rye and wheat, where they have been lowered.<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The MRLs of <strong>valifenalate<\/strong> have been raised for grapes, herbs, teas, coffee, infusions, cocoa and carob, spices, milk and honey. They have been lowered for garlic, onions, shallots, tomatoes, aubergines and lettuces.<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Article 2 of this regulation specifies that the previous MRLs continue to apply to products obtained or imported into the Union before 22 February 2023.<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">These MRLs will apply from <strong>22\/02\/23<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">You can find all the changes to these MRLs in the <a href=\"https:\/\/ec.europa.eu\/food\/plant\/pesticides\/eu-pesticides-database\/mrls\/index.cfm?event=search.pr&amp;v=1&amp;langFromHeader=FR&amp;token=E4EC230F64AFDC65A630221D162EFCDEC6C3A9D1\">European pesticides database<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Please note that your Phytocontrol laboratory offers pesticide residue analysis under COFRAC accreditation; you can consult our COFRAC technical annex No. 1-1904, available in your customer area or on the COFRAC website.<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Need technical, regulatory or pricing information?
