opinion on “the request to review the marketing authorisations for plant protection products containing S-metolachlor”<\/a>.<\/u><\/strong><\/p>\n\nAs part of the health monitoring of water intended for human consumption (EDCH), pesticides and some of their metabolites are screened for. During these checks, non-compliant results were identified with high frequency for the S-metolachlor metabolites, metolachlor-ESA and metolachlor-NOA.<\/p>\n\n
In this context, it was agreed to re-evaluate the marketing authorisations for products based on S-metolachlor.<\/p>\n\n
S-metolachlor is currently under review at European level as part of the approval renewal procedure. The draft assessment report from the rapporteur Member State has been the subject of a public consultation. Finalisation of the EFSA assessment conclusions is expected in the first half of 2023<\/p>\n\n
The assessment of the risk of transfer of S-metolachlor metabolites to groundwater shows unacceptable concentrations of metolachlor-ESA, metolachlor-OXA and metolachlor-NOA, exceeding the quality limit of 0.1 \u03bcg\/litre, <\/strong>which calls into question the current authorisation of certain uses of these products for reasons of water resource protection and pollution limitation.<\/p>\n\nANSES will therefore promptly initiate the review of files with a view to withdrawing certain uses from the marketing authorisations of plant protection products containing the active substance S-metolachlor.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
