{"id":544272,"date":"2026-08-27T00:35:46","date_gmt":"2026-08-26T22:35:46","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/dev.phytocontrol.com\/uncategorized\/alert-management-guide-revision-and-frequently-asked-questions\/"},"modified":"2026-08-27T00:35:47","modified_gmt":"2026-08-26T22:35:47","slug":"alert-management-guide-revision-and-frequently-asked-questions","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/dev.phytocontrol.com\/en\/regulatory-watch\/alert-management-guide-revision-and-frequently-asked-questions\/","title":{"rendered":"Alert management guide: revision and frequently asked questions"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The <a href=\"https:\/\/www.phytocontrol.com\/veille-reglementaire\/nouveau-guide-de-gestion-des-alertes-alimentaires-2023\/\"><strong>new alert management guide<\/strong><\/a> was published in January 2023 under instruction DGAL\/MUS\/2023-11.<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">An amendment to the appendices of this guide has just been published. <strong><u><a href=\"https:\/\/www.phytocontrol.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/03\/Revision-annexes-Guide-de-gestion-des-alertes-DGAL-MUS-2024-81.pdf\">Instruction DGAL\/MUS\/2024-81<\/a><\/u><\/strong> amends part 1 of Appendix X and Appendix XIII of the alert management guide.<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Part 1 of Appendix X concerns safety criteria relating to biological hazards.<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Among the non-regulatory safety criteria, <strong>the <em>Listeria monocytogenes<\/em> criterion<\/strong> has been amended.<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">It is replaced by <strong>&#8220;Detected OR &gt;10,000 CFU\/g&#8221;<\/strong> instead of &#8220;&gt;10,000 CFU\/g&#8221;. The products concerned are all foodstuffs other than those for which a regulatory criterion is defined.<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Serotype O80:H2<\/strong> has also been added for <strong>pathogenic STEC <em>E.coli<\/em><\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Appendix XIII, the technical fact sheet on shiga toxin-producing <em>E.coli<\/em> (STEC) requiring management measures in France, becomes Appendix I.<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">A reference to the ANSES opinion of 2 May 2023 (request No. 2020-SA-0095) on the definition of pathogenic shiga toxin-producing <em>Escherichia coli<\/em> strains has been added.<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">This opinion indicates that serotypes O157:H7, O26:H11, O145:H28, O103:H2, and O111:H8 (known as the &#8220;top 5&#8221; serotypes) are found in 56% of HUS cases in France, whereas this proportion rises to 80% when serotype O80:H2 is included.<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The definition of isolated STEC strains requiring management measures has therefore been broadened. In France, the definition of isolated STEC strains requiring management measures is as follows: strains of <em>E.coli<\/em> carrying the stx genes (stx1 or stx2) and eae, belonging to one of the 6 serotypes O157:H7, O26:H11, O145:H28, O103:H2, O111:H8, or <strong>O80:H2<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">A <strong><u><a href=\"https:\/\/www.phytocontrol.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/03\/2024-01-24-FAQ-Guide-de-gestion-des-alertes.pdf\">frequently asked questions<\/a><\/u><\/strong> document relating to the implementation of this guide was also published in January 2024. Its purpose is to answer questions frequently received by the DGAL. Some of these answers will be included in a future revision of the guide.<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Among the questions and answers, you will find:<\/p>\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Exceedances of maximum levels\/MRLs: what happens to measurement uncertainty? (Pesticides, contaminants and veterinary drug residues)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>How do you know if a non-compliant product is also dangerous? (Pesticides, contaminants)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Assessment of the alert situation and compliance with good agricultural practices: do the food alert management support guide and service note DGAL\/SDSSA 2023-14 relating to Article 50 of the EGAlim law concern vegetables that do not comply with GAP (PHI, uses) but have a compliant MRL, and therefore pose no risk to consumer safety?<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Will a frozen vegetable requiring cooking not be considered non-compliant or dangerous as long as contamination is &lt;10,000 CFU\/g?<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Need technical, regulatory or pricing information?
