{"id":544256,"date":"2026-08-27T00:35:24","date_gmt":"2026-08-26T22:35:24","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/dev.phytocontrol.com\/uncategorized\/guide-to-risk-assessment-of-indoor-water-distribution-systems\/"},"modified":"2026-08-27T00:35:24","modified_gmt":"2026-08-26T22:35:24","slug":"guide-to-risk-assessment-of-indoor-water-distribution-systems","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/dev.phytocontrol.com\/en\/regulatory-watch\/guide-to-risk-assessment-of-indoor-water-distribution-systems\/","title":{"rendered":"Guide to risk assessment of indoor water distribution systems"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The <a href=\"https:\/\/www.legifrance.gouv.fr\/jorf\/id\/JORFTEXT000046849363\">Order of 30 December 2022 on the risk assessment of indoor water distribution systems for water intended for human consumption<\/a> aims to ensure the health safety of water intended for human consumption and to improve the management of indoor sanitary water distribution systems in buildings.<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">This order forms part of the implementation of the new Drinking Water Directive No. 2020\/2184 (transposition of Articles 7, 10 and 18 of the directive) and applies to the indoor network and its EDCH (drinking water) distribution systems (cold water + domestic hot water) in ERPs (facilities open to the public).<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">It makes it mandatory to assess the risks associated with indoor EDCH distribution systems, the responsibility for which lies with the owner of the indoor network.<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">This assessment includes a risk analysis as well as monitoring of water quality based on the conclusions of the risk analysis.<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The risk analysis makes it possible to describe and assess indoor water distribution systems<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">in relation to water health safety and human health. Its objectives<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">are to:<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">1. Characterise and describe the indoor network and water distribution systems;<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">2. Identify hazardous events related to and affecting indoor<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">water distribution systems that could deteriorate the health quality of the water, particularly<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">the risks of Legionella proliferation and lead dissolution;<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">3. Identify the levels of risk associated with these hazardous events;<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">4. Propose risk management measures to be implemented in order to eliminate\/reduce<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">the hazardous events.<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The two parameters targeted by the order are Legionella and Lead.<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Astee has recently published an <a href=\"https:\/\/www.astee.org\/publications\/guide-dapplication-sur-lanalyse-des-risques-relative-aux-installations-interieures-de-distribution-dedch\/\">application guide on risk analysis in indoor EDCH distribution systems<\/a> as required by the order of 30 December 2022.<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">This guide provides an <a href=\"https:\/\/www.astee.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/04\/Grille-analyse-des-risques_Avril_2024.xlsx\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\"><strong>Excel file<\/strong><\/a> that gives professionals responsible for risk analysis a template to work from.<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Please note that Phytocontrol holds the national approval from the Ministry of Health and the Environment for carrying out sampling and analysis for the sanitary control of water.<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">You will find the details of our accreditations in our COFRAC technical annex No. 1-6066.<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Need technical, regulatory or pricing information?
