{"id":544235,"date":"2026-08-27T00:34:56","date_gmt":"2026-08-26T22:34:56","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/dev.phytocontrol.com\/uncategorized\/order-of-12-07-24-health-conditions-for-the-use-of-water-unfit-for-human-consumption-for-domestic-purposes\/"},"modified":"2026-08-27T00:34:56","modified_gmt":"2026-08-26T22:34:56","slug":"order-of-12-07-24-health-conditions-for-the-use-of-water-unfit-for-human-consumption-for-domestic-purposes","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/dev.phytocontrol.com\/en\/regulatory-watch\/order-of-12-07-24-health-conditions-for-the-use-of-water-unfit-for-human-consumption-for-domestic-purposes\/","title":{"rendered":"Order of 12\/07\/24: health conditions for the use of water unfit for human consumption for domestic purposes"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">On 13 July, the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.legifrance.gouv.fr\/jorf\/id\/JORFTEXT000049962670#:~:text=Il%20vise%20%C3%A0%20d%C3%A9finir%20les,techniques%20et%20sanitaires%20%C3%A0%20satisfaire.\">Decree No. 2024-796 of 12 July 2024 on the use of water unfit for human consumption<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.legifrance.gouv.fr\/jorf\/id\/JORFTEXT000049962813\">the Order of 12 July 2024 on health conditions for the use of water unfit for human consumption for domestic purposes<\/a> were published.<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Water unfit for human consumption for this type of use includes raw water, grey water (from showers, bathtubs, sinks) and water from collective swimming pools.<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The use of raw water is permitted for:<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Laundry washing<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Washing of indoor floors<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Disposal of excreta<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Feeding decorative fountains not intended for human consumption<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Cleaning outdoor surfaces, including washing vehicles when done at home<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Watering of vegetable gardens<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Watering green spaces around buildings<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The use of grey water and water from collective swimming pools is permitted for:<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Disposal of excreta<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Feeding decorative fountains not intended for human consumption<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Cleaning outdoor surfaces, including washing vehicles when done at home<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Watering green spaces around buildings<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The following uses are prohibited:<\/p>\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Use of black water, including treated black water, for food uses, uses related to drinking, food preparation and cooking, dishwashing, personal hygiene uses, and misting or water play uses, laundry washing, cleaning indoor surfaces and feeding decorative fountains not intended for human consumption<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Use of grey water, including treated grey water, for food uses, uses related to drinking, food preparation and cooking, dishwashing, personal hygiene uses, and misting or water play uses.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The use of water unfit for human consumption is permitted within buildings, both indoors and outdoors, in places open to the public, establishments open to the public, workplaces, collective housing buildings and individual houses.<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Possible domestic uses depending on the type of water unfit for human consumption are defined according to water quality level: A+ or A.<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Quality criteria for classifying water quality are defined based on the following parameters:<\/p>\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Escherichia Coli<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Intestinal enterococci<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Legionella pneumophila<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Turbidity<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>TOC<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Free residual chlorine in case of chlorination of system water<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>pH<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>This order applies from 1<sup>st<\/sup> September 2024.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Please note that Phytocontrol holds the national approval from the Ministry of Health and the Environment for carrying out sampling and analysis for water health control.<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">You will find the details of our accreditations in our COFRAC technical annex No. 1-6066.<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Need technical, regulatory or pricing information?
