{"id":544114,"date":"2026-08-26T23:53:22","date_gmt":"2026-08-26T21:53:22","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/dev.phytocontrol.com\/uncategorized\/mrl-changes-reg-2025-1163-and-2025-1164\/"},"modified":"2026-08-26T23:53:22","modified_gmt":"2026-08-26T21:53:22","slug":"mrl-changes-reg-2025-1163-and-2025-1164","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/dev.phytocontrol.com\/en\/regulatory-watch\/mrl-changes-reg-2025-1163-and-2025-1164\/","title":{"rendered":"MRL changes &#8211; Reg 2025\/1163 and 2025\/1164"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Two new regulations amending Regulation (EC) 396\/2005 on pesticide residue MRLs have just been published in the OJEU.<\/p>\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong> <\/strong><a href=\"https:\/\/eur-lex.europa.eu\/legal-content\/FR\/TXT\/?uri=OJ%3AL_202501163&amp;qid=1750259281475\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\"><strong>Regulation (EU) 2025\/1163<\/strong><\/a><strong> <\/strong>amends the MRLs for chlorpropham, fuberidazole, ipconazole, methoxyfenozide, S-metolachlor and triflusulfuron in certain products.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The MRL for <strong>chlorpropham<\/strong> in potatoes is lowered to <strong>0.2 mg\/kg<\/strong> (currently 0.35 mg\/kg).<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The approval of the active substance &#8220;<strong>fuberidazole<\/strong>&#8221; expired on 28\/02\/19. All existing authorisations for plant protection products containing fuberidazole have been revoked. The MRLs for fuberidazole have been lowered to the specific limits of determination for each matrix:<\/p>\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>0.05 mg\/kg on teas, coffee beans, herbal infusions, cocoa beans, carobs, hops, spices and honey.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>0.02 mg\/kg on culinary herbs and edible flowers.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>0.01 mg\/kg<\/strong> on other matrices (currently 0.05 mg\/kg on barley, oats, rye and wheat).<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The approval of the active substance &#8220;<strong>ipconazole<\/strong>&#8221; expired on 31\/05\/23. Existing authorisations for plant protection products containing ipconazole have been revoked. The MRLs for ipconazole have already been lowered to the specific limits of determination for each matrix. They are now listed in Annex V of the regulation.<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The approval of the active substance &#8220;<strong>methoxyfenozide<\/strong>&#8221; is restricted to greenhouse use only under Implementing Regulation (EU) 2019\/158. The MRL for methoxyfenozide in aubergines is lowered to <strong>0.3 mg\/kg<\/strong> (currently 0.6 mg\/kg).<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The approval of the active substance &#8220;<strong>S-metolachlor<\/strong>&#8221; expired on 22\/01\/24. All existing authorisations for plant protection products containing S-metolachlor have been revoked. The MRLs for S-metolachlor have been lowered to the specific limits of determination for each matrix:<\/p>\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>0.05 mg\/kg on teas, coffee beans, herbal infusions, cocoa beans, carobs, hops, spices and honey.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>0.02 mg\/kg<\/strong> on culinary herbs and edible flowers.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>0.01 mg\/kg<\/strong> on other matrices.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The approval of the active substance &#8220;<strong>triflusulfuron<\/strong>&#8221; (formerly &#8220;triflusulfuron-methyl&#8221;) expired on 20\/11\/23. All existing authorisations for plant protection products containing triflusulfuron have been revoked. The MRLs for triflusulfuron have been lowered to the specific limits of determination for each matrix:<\/p>\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>0.05 mg\/kg on teas, coffee beans, herbal infusions, cocoa beans, carobs, hops, spices and honey.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>0.02 mg\/kg on culinary herbs and edible flowers.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>0.01 mg\/kg<\/strong> on other matrices (currently 0.02 mg\/kg on tree nuts and oilseeds and oleaginous fruits).<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The regulation will apply from <strong>06\/01\/2026<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Article 2 of this regulation states that the previous MRLs will continue to apply to products that were placed on the EU market before 06\/01\/26.<\/p>\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>The <a href=\"https:\/\/eur-lex.europa.eu\/legal-content\/FR\/TXT\/?uri=CELEX%3A32025R1164&amp;qid=1750259291293\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\"><strong>Regulation (EU) 2025\/1164<\/strong><\/a><strong> <\/strong>amends the MRLs for cyantraniliprole, cyflumetofen, deltamethrin, mefentrifluconazole, mepiquat and oxathiapiprolin in certain products.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The MRLs for <strong>cyantraniliprole<\/strong> have been increased in blackberries and raspberries, avocados, dried vegetables, teas and eggs.<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The MRLs for <strong>cyflumetofen<\/strong> have been increased in cherries (sweet) and cucumbers.<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The MRLs for <strong>deltamethrin<\/strong> have been increased in papayas.<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The MRLs for <strong>mefentrifluconazole<\/strong> have been increased in lettuces and oats.<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The MRLs for <strong>mepiquat<\/strong> have been increased in grapes.<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The MRLs for <strong>oxathiapiprolin<\/strong> have been increased in currants, rose hips and avocados.<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The regulation will apply from <strong>06\/07\/2025<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Your Phytocontrol laboratory offers pesticide residue analysis under COFRAC accreditation; you can consult our COFRAC technical annex No. 1-1904 available in your customer area or on the COFRAC website.<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Need technical, regulatory or pricing information?
