<\/p>\n\n

A new ANSES opinion on the relevance classification of AMPA (a glyphosate metabolite) in drinking water has recently been published.<\/p>\n\n

ANSES was asked to assess the relevance of this metabolite for drinking water. This assessment is based on a methodology developed by ANSES and on the assessment documents for the renewal of glyphosate’s approval (\u00a73.2), supplemented by an additional literature review.<\/p>\n\n

This opinion concludes that the AMPA metabolite shows no “pesticidal” activity compared to glyphosate, that it does not induce genotoxic effects either in vitro or in vivo, and that there is a lack of appropriate data on carcinogenicity and endocrine-disrupting potential. Accordingly, ANSES considers glyphosate’s AMPA<\/strong> metabolite to be classified as “not relevant for drinking water”<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n

As a reminder, the regulatory values applicable within the framework of drinking water health monitoring and control are:<\/p>\n\n

– a quality limit of 0.1 \u03bcg\/L for relevant metabolites;<\/p>\n\n

– an indicative value of 0.9 \u03bcg\/L for non-relevant metabolites.<\/p>\n\n
