{"id":544050,"date":"2026-08-26T23:51:11","date_gmt":"2026-08-26T21:51:11","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/dev.phytocontrol.com\/uncategorized\/extension-of-the-tolerance-period-for-3-gm-oilseed-rape\/"},"modified":"2026-08-26T23:51:12","modified_gmt":"2026-08-26T21:51:12","slug":"extension-of-the-tolerance-period-for-3-gm-oilseed-rape","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/dev.phytocontrol.com\/en\/regulatory-watch\/extension-of-the-tolerance-period-for-3-gm-oilseed-rape\/","title":{"rendered":"Extension of the tolerance period for 3 GM oilseed rape"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><a href=\"https:\/\/eur-lex.europa.eu\/legal-content\/FR\/TXT\/PDF\/?uri=CELEX:32025D2321\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Implementing Decision (EU) 2025\/2321<\/a> has just been published in the OJEU. <\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">It amends Decisions 2007\/305\/EC, 2007\/306\/EC and 2007\/307\/EC with regard to the tolerance period for traces of hybrid oilseed rape Ms1xRf1, hybrid oilseed rape Ms1xRf2 and oilseed rape Topas 19\/2, as well as products derived from them. <\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In 2007 the European Commission decided to withdraw hybrid oilseed rape Ms1xRf1, hybrid oilseed rape Ms1xRf2 and oilseed rape Topas 19\/2, as well as products derived from them, from the market. <\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">A 5-year transition period was set, during which products intended for human food or animal feed could contain this type of material (up to 0.9%) without being considered non-compliant. <\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">This period was extended 4 times via Implementing Decisions (EU) 2012\/69, 2016\/2268, 2019\/1562 and 2022\/736. <\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Minute traces of GM material have still been detected in oilseed rape-containing products in recent years. The persistent presence of these traces can be explained by the biology of oilseed rape (seeds can remain dormant for a long time) and by the agricultural practices used to harvest the seeds, which may have resulted in accidental dispersal. <\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">This is why the deadline is being extended for the 5<sup>th<\/sup> time via Implementing Decision (EU) 2025\/2321. <\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">This decision states that the presence of these GM oilseed rape varieties in products intended for human food or animal feed is tolerated until <strong>31 December 2028<\/strong>, provided that this presence: <\/p>\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Is adventitious or technically unavoidable; and <\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Does not exceed a proportion of <strong>0.1%<\/strong> by mass. <\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Please note that your Phytocontrol laboratory offers analysis of these GM oilseed rape varieties under COFRAC accreditation; you can consult our COFRAC technical annex No. 1-1904 available in your customer area or on the COFRAC website. <\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Need technical, regulatory or pricing information?
