{"id":520350,"date":"2025-05-13T15:38:50","date_gmt":"2025-05-13T13:38:50","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.phytocontrol.com\/?p=520350"},"modified":"2026-08-27T23:56:07","modified_gmt":"2026-08-27T21:56:07","slug":"eu-pesticide-control-program-for-2026-2027-and-2028","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/dev.phytocontrol.com\/en\/regulatory-watch\/eu-pesticide-control-program-for-2026-2027-and-2028\/","title":{"rendered":"EU pesticide control programme 2026, 2027 and 2028"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The <a href=\"https:\/\/eur-lex.europa.eu\/legal-content\/FR\/TXT\/PDF\/?uri=CELEX:32025R0854\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\"><strong>Implementing Regulation (EU) 2025\/854<\/strong><\/a> concerning a coordinated multiannual control programme of the Union for 2026, 2027 and 2028 designed to ensure compliance with maximum residue levels of pesticides in and on food of plant and animal origin and to assess consumer exposure to these residues has just been published.<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">This regulation will enter into force on <strong>1<\/strong><strong><sup>st<\/sup><\/strong><strong> January 2026<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Thirty to forty foodstuffs make up the main components of the diet in the Union. Since pesticide uses change significantly over a three-year period, pesticides must be monitored in these foodstuffs over a series of three-year cycles so that consumer exposure and the application of EU legislation can be assessed.<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The control programme will cover 36 different foodstuffs, for a total of 683 samples to be analysed per year.<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The targeted matrices will be as follows:<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In 2026: oranges, pears, kiwis, cauliflowers, onions, carrots, potatoes, beans (dried), rye grain, brown rice (husked rice), poultry fat and cattle liver.<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In 2027: table grapes, bananas, grapefruit, aubergines, broccoli, melons, cultivated mushrooms, sweet peppers\/sweet chillies, wheat, virgin olive oil, cattle fat and hen eggs.<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In 2028: apples, strawberries, peaches, wine (red or white), lettuces, head cabbages, tomatoes, spinach, oats, barley, cow&#8217;s milk and pig fat.<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Annex I part C of the regulation lists the <strong>208 substances<\/strong> to be searched for in foodstuffs <strong>of plant origin<\/strong>. The following substances have been added: 4-CPA, azadirachtin, BAC and DDAC, chlorates, isofetamid, mefentrifluconazole, metamitron, oxathiapiprolin, pyrethrins, trimethylsulfonium cation, trinexapac.<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Annex I part D of the regulation lists the <strong>33 substances<\/strong> to be searched for in foodstuffs <strong>of animal origin<\/strong>. The following substances have been added: BAC and DDAC, chlorates and mefentrifluconazole.<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In addition to the sampling programme defined in point 1 of Annex II of the regulation, each Member State will sample and analyse:<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>In 2026<\/strong><strong>: <\/strong>5 samples of infant formula and 5 samples of follow-on formula.<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>In 2027<\/strong><strong>:<\/strong> 10 samples of processed cereal-based foods for babies.  <\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>In 2028<\/strong>: 10 samples of foods for infants and young children other than infant formula, follow-on formula and cereal-based foods for babies. <\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Your Phytocontrol laboratory offers pesticide residue analysis under COFRAC accreditation.
