{"id":29227,"date":"2023-03-02T11:37:00","date_gmt":"2023-03-02T10:37:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.phytocontrol.com\/?p=29227"},"modified":"2026-09-19T22:16:59","modified_gmt":"2026-09-19T20:16:59","slug":"regulation-eu-2023-377-modification-of-mrls","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/dev.phytocontrol.com\/en\/regulatory-watch\/regulation-eu-2023-377-modification-of-mrls\/","title":{"rendered":"Publication of Regulation (EU) 2023\/377 &#8211; Amendment of MRLs"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The <a href=\"https:\/\/eur-lex.europa.eu\/legal-content\/FR\/TXT\/?uri=CELEX%3A32023R0377&amp;qid=1677142694173\"><strong>Regulation EU 2023\/377<\/strong><\/a> has just been published and amends the MRLs for <strong>BAC and DDAC, chlorpropham, flutriafol, metazachlor, nicotine, profenofos, quizalofop-P, thiabendazole <\/strong>and<strong> triadimenol<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>BAC <\/strong>and<strong> DDAC<\/strong> are not active substances approved for use in PPPs. However, these two substances are biocides used as disinfectants. Such use can leave detectable residues in foodstuffs. Provisional MRLs were therefore set by Regulation 1119\/2014.<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">These MRLs have been reviewed:<\/p>\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>BAC:<\/strong> all MRLs remain at <strong>0.1 mg\/kg<\/strong> on all matrices<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>DDAC:<\/strong> MRLs for products of plant origin decrease from 0.1 to <strong>0.05 mg\/kg<\/strong>. They remain at <strong>0.1 mg\/kg<\/strong> for products of animal origin.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The MRL for <strong>chlorpropham<\/strong> on potatoes decreases from 0.4 mg\/kg to <strong>0.35 mg\/kg<\/strong>. Chlorpropham has been banned in the EU, but a provisional MRL has been set for potatoes, as monitoring data revealed possible contamination when stored in facilities with a history of chlorpropham use.<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The MRL for <strong>flutriafol<\/strong> in rice decreases from 1.5 mg\/kg to <strong>1 mg\/kg<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">MRLs for cucurbits with inedible peel (melons, pumpkins, watermelons) increase from 0.01 and 0.2 mg\/kg to <strong>0.3 mg\/kg<\/strong>. This is an import tolerance, as flutriafol is authorised in the USA on cucurbits with inedible peel.<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The MRL for <strong>metazachlor<\/strong> on kale (leafy cabbages) decreases from 0.2 mg\/kg to <strong>0.15 mg\/kg<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The MRL on flowering brassicas (broccoli, cauliflowers) decreases from 0.4 mg\/kg to <strong>0.06 mg\/kg<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The MRL on radishes decreases from 0.4 mg\/kg to <strong>0.06 mg\/kg.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The MRL for <strong>nicotine <\/strong>in rose hips decreases from 0.3 mg\/kg to <strong>0.2 mg\/kg<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The MRL in herbs and edible flowers decreases from 0.4 mg\/kg to <strong>0.1 mg\/kg<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The MRL in wild mushrooms (fresh) decreases from 0.04 mg\/kg to <strong>0.02 mg\/kg<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The MRL in teas decreases from 0.6 mg\/kg to <strong>0.5 mg\/kg<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">This provisional MRL will be valid for three years from the publication of this regulation. After that date, the MRL will be 0.4 mg\/kg, unless subsequently amended.<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The MRL in herbal infusions decreases from 0.5 mg\/kg to <strong>0.3 mg\/kg<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The MRL in &#8220;seed spices&#8221; and fruit-form spices decreases from 0.3 mg\/kg to <strong>0.02 mg\/kg.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The MRL for all other spices decreases from 4 mg\/kg to <strong>0.07 mg\/kg.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">For all other products for which no specific MRL has been set, the LOD applies.<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The MRLs for <strong>profenofos<\/strong> in herbs and edible flowers decrease from 0.05 mg\/kg to <strong>0.03 mg\/kg<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The MRL for <strong>quizalofop<\/strong> in caraway decreases from 0.05 mg\/kg to <strong>0.04 mg\/kg<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The MRL for <strong>thiabendazole<\/strong> in mangoes decreases from 7 mg\/kg to <strong>5 mg\/kg<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The MRL in bovine milk decreases from 0.2 mg\/kg to 0.1 mg\/kg.<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The approval of <strong>triadimenol<\/strong> expired on 31 August 2019, therefore the MRLs have been lowered to the LOD level.<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Article 2 of this regulation specifies that the previous MRLs continue to apply to food produced or imported into the Union before 14 September 2023, except for rose hips and teas containing nicotine.<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The regulation will apply from <strong>14\/09\/2023.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Your Phytocontrol laboratory offers pesticide residue analysis under COFRAC accreditation.
