In addition to salmonella testing, pesticide residue analyses, including ethylene oxide, must now be carried out.<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>From 26\/10\/2020, all consignments of sesame seeds from India must be accompanied by an official certificate stating that the products have been sampled and analysed<\/strong> <strong>to confirm compliance with the MRLs set out in European legislation. The analysis results must be attached to this certificate.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">As a reminder, since September 2020, very high levels of ethylene oxide (a substance not approved at EU level) have been notified via RASFF in certain batches of sesame seeds originating from or coming from India that entered the Union. These levels are more than a thousand times higher than the maximum residue limit of <strong>0.05 mg\/kg<\/strong> applicable to ethylene oxide under regulation (EC) No 396\/2005.<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In France, the DGCCRF has carried out numerous recalls of batches containing non-compliant sesame seeds.
