{"id":19463,"date":"2020-08-27T09:17:00","date_gmt":"2020-08-27T07:17:00","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.phytocontrol.com\/?p=19463"},"modified":"2026-08-28T00:24:33","modified_gmt":"2026-08-27T22:24:33","slug":"dgccrf-survey-on-gluten-free-products","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/dev.phytocontrol.com\/en\/regulatory-watch\/dgccrf-survey-on-gluten-free-products\/","title":{"rendered":"DGCCRF investigation into gluten-free products"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The DGCCRF conducted an investigation to verify the absence of gluten and the correct use of labelling claims on &#8220;gluten-free&#8221; or &#8220;low gluten&#8221; products.<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">People suffering from coeliac disease have no choice but to exclude gluten from their diet to protect their health. It is therefore important to check the accuracy of the regulatory claims &#8220;gluten-free&#8221; and &#8220;low gluten&#8221;.<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><a href=\"https:\/\/eur-lex.europa.eu\/legal-content\/FR\/TXT\/PDF\/?uri=CELEX:32014R0828&amp;qid=1598449336209&amp;from=FR\">Regulation 828\/2014<\/a> defines the labelling thresholds for these claims:<\/p>\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Gluten-free: the food sold to the final consumer does not contain more than 20<br\/>mg\/kg of gluten.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Low gluten content: the food sold to the final consumer does not<br\/>contain more than 100 mg\/kg of gluten.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">10% of the samples taken by the DGCCRF were found to be non-compliant.<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Investigators also noted the use of other unregulated claims to meet the demand of non-coeliac consumers wishing to limit the amount of gluten in their diet.<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Please note that our laboratory is able to detect and quantify gluten under COFRAC accreditation (Scope No. 1-1904 available on the COFRAC website).<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Need technical, regulatory or pricing information?
