What are mycotoxins?
Mycotoxins are toxins produced by certain fungi, such as molds, which can contaminate crops, animal feed and finished food products.
Their presence in the food chain can have devastating effects on human and animal health, ranging from gastrointestinal disorders to developmental problems and even cancer in the most serious cases. That’s why it’s imperative to rigorously monitor and control the presence of mycotoxins in our food supply.
The Phytocontrol solution
Phytocontrol has developed a number of specific methods, adapting the complex extraction protocols required for single or multi-mycotoxin analyses using the latest generation of high-performance liquid chromatography coupled with tandem mass spectrometry (UFLC/MS/MS).
This enables us to detect and quantify all mycotoxins covered by European regulations (EU 2023/915, EU 401/2006 and EU 2002/32), as well as certain secondary mycotoxins, and to provide you with information on the conformity of batches submitted for analysis.
